Art & Design Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Art and Design is to provide aspiring artists, designers, and art historians with professional training and to provide a critical fine arts component of a university liberal arts education. In fulfilling this mission we will:

• Foster appreciation and critical awareness of the visual arts.

• Prepare students for further study and careers in art history, graphic design, art education, ceramics/ sculpture, illustration, painting/drawing/printmaking, photography, museum studies and related fields.

• Educate students, faculty, administration, and community that the visual arts are intrinsically valuable to all engaged learners, that they inherently embody diverse individual, cultural, and philosophical expression, that they have the power to change the way in which we perceive things, and that they are the most direct way to vicariously transfer meaning and experience.

FINE ART

At Park University, our fine art program is designed to provide an educational experience for you to develop technical skills, critical and aesthetic judgment, and a sound knowledge of the visual arts. If you aspire to launch or advance your career in fine art, or want to develop a general appreciation of the arts, pursuing a fine art degree may be the right choice for you.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

At Park University, our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design degree program provides students with the opportunity to learn visual communication, identity and branding, typography, layout, illustration, 3D animation and photography, while building professional design portfolios. If you are interested in pursuing a career in art and design, graphic designers are in demand to create visual materials for a wide variety of products and services.

INTERIOR DESIGN

At Park University, our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design degree program provides students with the opportunity to learn the practical and theoretical aspects of interior design. Students will apply creative and technical solutions within a structure to achieve a built environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants and are aesthetically attractive.
